Who We Are

Empowering Epilepsy was created by people in Cleveland, Ohio directly affected by epilepsy. While looking for support, there were limited resources outside the epileptologist’s office. Our goal is to create a caring community that allows people with epilepsy and their families to find proactive ways to manage their seizures and take charge of their lives.

Meet our Epilepsy Specialist Q & A Leaders

Empowering Epilepsy features some of the top epilepsy specialists in the country leading an hour of Q & A. Participants can ask them any general questions about epilepsy and seizures, and then talk with others in their age group who are also living with epilepsy.

Our Goal...

is to provide free and low cost educational programs and services to show people with epilepsy what they can do while living with seizures.

Empowering Epilepsy was created by people with epilepsy in Northeast Ohio for people with epilepsy. Our events are either free or low-cost thanks to donations from people, families, businesses and foundations like you. Empowering Epilepsy is a nonprofit 501(c)3 public charity organization.

@empowering.epilepsy for the first time today with my Trev. For those of you who don’t know yet, my oldest son developed juvenile myoclonic epilepsy at 13. This means he suffers from an array of seizures which are triggered by many different things. The worst, scariest, and most frequent are his grand mal seizures. But today, we tried and really enjoyed art therapy!

If you’re like me, you’ve fought with dr after dr for an answer but there never seems to be one. If you have a child with epilepsy, I Strongly Encourage you to work with Ms Lee, the founder of Empowering epilepsy, to learn the language of epilepsy, so you know the questions to ask, and how to better advocate for your child’s needs in and out of school/work. She gave us so much information and a safe place where he now sees he’s not alone, and I felt like I’ve found a haven after 3 yrs of advocating alone. I’m no longer fighting for him alone!
